Alchemy (Thaumaturgy)

Alchemy, or Thaumaturgy, is a science that seeks to turn base metals into gold or silver through the agency of one or more secret substances known by various names.  This transmutation of elements allows kingdoms rich in one type of metal to produce other metals without reliance on foreign governments.

In order to transmute most elements, the raw materials must be of the most pure form.
